Surfing Pioneers of Ireland
In 1965 Neil Britton’s grandmother brought two surfboards home from the USA for her five sons. They used them as boats until some Australian tourists showed them how to use them properly! The Britton family love affair with surfing began. Neil has carried on that surfing legacy and in 2006 after travelling around the world, he set up Fin McCool Surf School in Rossnowlagh.
Our Location
A must-see stop along the Wild Atlantic Way, Rossnowlagh Beach is one of the best places to learn to surf in Ireland. We’re located just metres from the sand and sea, right in the heart of Rossnowlagh. Fin McCool Surf School and Shop is situated in the heart of it all.
Fin McCool Surf School
Fin McCool Surf School provides lessons for all standards of surfers and runs daily Kids Surf Camps during the summer months. The surf school is fully approved and insured by the Irish Surfing Association and the shop is stocked with most leading brands and items.

Rossnowlagh Beach
Often called the “birthplace of Irish surfing” Rossnowlagh Beach is everything you want in a surf destination; golden sands, Atlantic sunsets and a warm community of like-minded people. Great for beginners and seasoned surfers alike, Rossnowlagh is also host to one of the oldest surf competitions in Europe.
